Laser Ammo Training Technologies makes a system called the LaserPET. In a nut shell it’s a Personal Electronic Target that provides immediate feedback with sound. If you want to step it up a notch the system has a built-in shot timer that will track how long it takes to get a single shot on target and then how many consecutive shot you can get on target in a specific time period. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.

I’ve gotten some trigger using both my CZ P09 and my Magnum Research MR9. DA/SA handguns are a lot easier to use with the Surestrike laser cartridge. I’ve used the First, Third and Fourth modes. The fourth is by far my favorite. The faster you start shooting the faster the targets change. Once you think you got the hang of it, you’d pull the trigger on a red target and it’s game over.

The Interactive Multi Target Training System lets you simulate different training drills with the most advanced electronic target in the market. Train with your own firearm or with any recoil enable gun (like Airsoft) with available red or IR lasers.

One of the unique advantages of the Training Pistol is the versatile laser options. As the laser is communicating with the gun in a unique patent pending optic way, the shooter can choose between IR or visible laser, can request a custom pulse length to his or her needs, replace battery when needed and more. The shooter can even use the same laser (with a different cap) in their own firearms, or airsoft! And of course, use it with all Laser Ammo line of targets, Simulators and shooting software.

With a few hundred dollars of your agency's or your own money, you can put together a basic system which will allow you train, even if it's 40 below outside. With only a PC, camera, video projector and screen or large screen TV, you can set up a range just about anywhere. In 2015, Doug Wyllie wrote an article on how you can engage (and possibly help de-fuse) your community and gain additional funding through realistic use of force training for civilians. And this is one way to make that happen.
