If you are using a red SureStrike laser training cartridge, you will be able to see the visible red laser pulse emit on your Laser Ammo electronic target or your favorite paper target. The IR (infrared) laser pulse is not visible to the human eye and must be used on one of Laser Ammo’s electronic targets or Smokeless Range shooting simulator. Each has its benefits, so what type of training you are performing (or assisting with in the case of an instructor) has a lot to do with which you choose.
Since you can see a red laser pulse emit on your target, you will be able to see exactly where you hit… or miss! It is important to be sure you are using your sights with each shot, instead of focusing on where the red laser pulse “missed”, and simply muscling the gun around until the red dot is in the intended hit zone. IR (infrared) lasers force you to use your sights and takes away the ability to focus on the red dot and “cheat” your shots. If you’re an instructor teaching a first time student, often times red lasers are great to start out with because then you will be able to see exactly what your student is doing, the exact spot where their shot is landing, and provide valuable feedback from that point on.

Yes, do not unwrap the batteries. They should remain as a wrapped stack of 3 which is then inserted in your laser.

The LaserPET I (original, grey version) is cross compatible with many other company’s lasers. The LaserPET II (2ndmodel, black version), i-MTTS Targets, and Smokeless Range Shooting Simulator are not compatible with other company lasers. If you have a question regarding cross-compatibility, please give us a call or send us an email.
Cross compatibility between various companies cannot be guaranteed. Please call or email with any cross-compatibility concerns.
The answer is both! The target/simulator you choose to train with will have an impact on what will give you the best training experience. As a broad generalization, both options are great with our LaserPET I & LaserPET II target systems, and our i-MTTS targets & Smokeless Range Shooting Simulator work best with double action handguns. Of course, you also have the option of training with any of our Recoil Enabled Training Guns or Advanced Laser Training Pistols on any of our targets or simulators as well!
If you are using a single action/striker fired/hammer fired firearm then yes, you will have to rack the slide between shots. If you’re shooting a double action firearm then you do not rack the slide between each shot. If you’re shooting a Glock and have a reset trigger installed, then you do not have to rack the slide between each shot.
No. There is a protective piece in the center of the back cap of each SureStrike laser cartridge that is designed for the firing pin to safely strike while still keeping it protected and damage free!
The safety pipe and nut is ideal to use at all times, as it serves as a visual indicator that the gun is clear, and that live ammo cannot be inserted into the chamber. It is REQUIRED to be used any time you use a pistol caliber adapter on the 9mm cartridge (ex: 45ACP, 40S&W, 10mm, etc).
This all depends on your particular firearm. It is not necessary to do so, so most customers leave the magazine in. There are some guns on the market that will not “fire” with the magazine removed. Please consult your user manual to determine if your gun will “fire” without the magazine inserted.
Give us a call or send us an email so we can walk you through the process of determining which part of your laser may/may not be malfunctioning.
