Standard v short throw camera

Full details and images on our support site here.

Short version - Short throw camera allows you to use a smaller space, like 10x20' or easier when you plan to relocate the simulator often. If you have a large space like a basement or office space or can ceiling mount, usually a standard throw is plenty.

Tech speak - standard throw camera ratio is 1:1.6 whereas the short throw camera ratio is 1:0.5.  Which means, if your screen size is 10x10' your standard throw camera & projector need to be approx 16' from the screen. Whereas with the short throw, you can be approx 5' away from the screen. Since the shooter would be behind the camera and projector, using the short throw will leave you with more space to stand using the same size screen.

Another advantage of the short throw is that it has an external filter that allows the shooter to use a red filter or an Infrared (optional, not included) filter to assist with harsh lighting conditions.

The 9mm laser bullet worked perfectly when I received it. But after only 5 days it changed from the pinpoint laser to displaying a large red "splash" of light, and then quit working altogether! I have initiated a return/replacement but I have to say that I am quite disappointed in this. I gave 3 stars for customer service because I asked for a replacement to be sent to me right away but was told I had to send in the defective one first. At a cost of 3 times of what I have paid for a similar product I had high hopes for a superior unit. I realize that despite good quality control any company can have a defective unit slip through, it was still pretty disappointing. I hope this gets resolved quickly.

Update - Hey Ernie, I see that you updated your review and not happy about your experience. We 100% agree being frustrated when something doesn't work. I understand that you spoke with Rob, who indicated he would figure out if there was an issue with the laser/components and fix and return or if there was a faulty laser as you noted is a possibility in which case we would replace it with a new one. I'm sure you agree and understand that just sending new products out when there is a testing process to see IF it can be fixed - bad batteries, bad laser, faulty back cap versus a whole new product. Sorry that you had to wait for the fix/replacement but rest assured you will get a superior product back in your hands soon, so you can practice for your upcoming matches. Thank you for your patience and we appreciate your loyalty.

Thank you so much Ernie! Making dry fire fun again! Enjoy ~Kristen

You are talking about two different products here, so let's be sure we explain.

These batteries are for the SureStrike lasers only, and they must remain wrapped in the blue plastic. You can use them for the optic laser that comes with the SureStrikeMAG However, the SureStrikeMAG itself is rechargeable and the magazine alone does not need batteries. Further, the SureStrike lasers that do work stand alone and the laser that comes with the SureStrikeMAG are not the same thus not interchangeable. Similarly, the prior… See full answer »
